Profile

Before joining the Department of Linguistics at Macquarie University, Ms Cho accumulated professional experience in both translation and interpreting. Since completing her translation and interpreting studies at the Graduate School of Interpretation and Translation at the Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in Korea, she worked as a freelance interpreter for a number of companies, including Microsoft and Hewlett-Packard, as well as for various conferences in a consecutive and simultaneous mode.

Between 2004 and 2006, she held the position of international news writer with the Korean Broadcasting Service (KBS), a position which involved the translation (from Korean into English) of news items for posting on the KBS website and voicing of news.

Ms Cho lectured in translation and interpreting studies at Korea University in Seoul for about 3 years before being hired by Macquarie University and currently teaches translation studies, as well as consecutive and conference interpreting.
