Profile

Louise Collingridge is the University Audiology Clinic Manager. The Audiology Clinic is located on the university campus, and serves as a teaching and research clinic while providing clinical services to the community.

Louise studied Logopaedics at the University of Cape Town, where she later worked as a lecturer in Audiology. During her association at that university, she established community based Audiology clinics in under serviced communities, as well as establishing an adult literacy project for Deaf adults learning written English as a second language. Louise continues to have links with community based Deaf organisations in South Africa, and does consultancy work by distance for the Deaf Community of Cape Town.

Prior to taking up her current position, Louise worked for Australian Hearing, providing hearing services to children, and participated in clinically based research projects undertaken at the National Acoustics Laboratory. Ensuring relevant services for clients using audiology services is a primary concern for Louise, and she is currently investigating patient-professional interaction in the audiology clinic, under the guidance of Professor Chris Candlin, towards a PhD degree.

In addition, Louise has undertaken research in the field of middle ear sound transmission. This was the subject of her dissertation for her Masters degree, and continues to be an area of interest.
