Associate Professor Eddie Ronowicz is the author of 4 books, 2 textbooks of Polish for English speakers and editor of two books in the area of cross-cultural studies, as well as author of many articles in the fields of applied linguistics, second language teaching, contrastive and cross-cultural studies, first languagte attrition and research methodololgy. His research interests include Polish – English contrastive studies, the age factor in bilingualism, audio aids in second language teaching, bilingualism, first language attrition, cross-cultural problems in communication and translation studies.
Worked as a professional translator in English, Polish and Russian in Poland and in the USA. He translated scholarly books and articles or book chapters in the areas of general and applied linguistics, philosophy and education, as well as numerous articles, papers and other works. In the years 1982-83 he was actively involved in the translation of clipplings from Polish press for American institutions monitoring the events in Poland at the time.
Associate Professor Eddie Ronowicz obtained his BA (1969) from the College of Foreign Languages, University of Warsaw, MA(1970) and PhD (1977) from the Institute of Applied Linguistics, University of Warsaw, home of the oldest translation and interpreting program in Poland. From 1981 to 1984 he was a research fellow and visiting professor in the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures, Indiana University, Boomington. Joined Macquarie University in February 1984.
