Profile

Rozz joined the Linguistics Department at Macquarie in 2005, after teaching for 10 years in the Linguistics Department at the University of Maryland, College Park.

Trained in the United States in the framework of generative linguistics developed by Noam Chomsky, Rozz’s research focuses on exploring which aspects of our knowledge of language are innate and part of our biology, and which aspects are learned from the environment. Her research is experimental research on child language acquisition, particularly young children's acquisition of morphological, syntactic and semantic knowledge. Rozz is also interested in bilingual acquisition, second language acquisition and disordered acquisition investigated from a generative linguistics perspective.

Rozz is a CI on the ARC Centre of Excellence in Cognition and its Disorders. which is funded from 2011.  Members of the ‘language project’ will study children with the language disorder known as ‘Specific Language Impairment’. Rozz is also a member of the Centre for Language Sciences (CLaS).

Rozz teaches introductory linguistics, and classes in child language in the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
