ProfileRosalind joined the Linguistics Department at Macquarie in 2005, after teaching for 10 years in the Linguistics Department at the University of Maryland, College Park. Before that, Rosalind was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Brain and Cognitive Science at MIT. Trained in the United States in the framework of linguistics developed by Noam Chomsky, Rosalind's research focuses on exploring which aspects of our knowledge of language is innate, and which aspects are learned from the environment. The main focus of her research is first language acquisition, particularly children's acquisition of syntactic and semantic knowledge. Rosalind has taught introductory classes on linguistic theory and language and mind, undergraduate and postgraduate classes on child language acquisition, and classes on second language acquisition from a generative perspective. |
