Applied Linguistics and Language in Education (ALLE) was initiated as a Research Group within the Department of Linguistics at Macquarie University in 2005. It has been a Research Centre of the Department since June 2008. The Director of the Centre is Professor Anne Burns.
The Centre aims to encourage and foster interaction and collaboration among researchers and research students in broad areas of applied linguistics and language in education both within Australia and internationally, and to promote interdisciplinary, inter-institutional, and international research and program development opportunities.
