Eva has extensive experience in language teaching and language teacher education from Australia and Europe. She has been a lecturer and researcher in TESOL and SLA since 2001. Her topics of interest cover:
Currently, Eva is involved in a 2-year Carrick grant research project with 5 other Australian universities, investigating the English language growth of international students. She is also the Administrator for the ALLE Research Centre.
Bronwen Dyson’s research focuses on the learning and teaching of ESL from a psycholinguistic perspective. Her current research includes:
In recent years, Bronwen has taught Second Language Acquisition and language curriculum and methodology at masters level, while also contributing to course development for the Doctorate of Applied Linguistics. Previously, she lectured in General Linguistics at undergraduate level, conducted research into language policy, created language curricula materials and taught ESL at adult and secondary levels.
John McAndrew has been a Lecturer with the Department of Linguistics at Macquarie since 2003. Previous to coming to Macquarie, Dr McAndrew worked as a teacher and researcher in the field of English as a Foreign Language (EFL), living and working in Japan, South Korea and Columbia.

Malcolm Sim is interested in the fields of applied linguistics and psychology and how they interact in TESOL contexts. He has a strong interest in second language acquisition (particularly the role of affective factors), multilingualism, learner autonomy, learner beliefs, e-learning and curriculum design. His current PhD research looks at ways in which language learner anxiety can be more efficiently managed to provide better language learning outcomes.
Malcolm began his language teaching career in Tokyo, Japan in 1998. During his four and a half years in Japan he made use of his business education to conduct corporate training classes and organize business English classes. He taught at a number of institutions with a variety of students of all ages. Since returning to Australia in 2003 to continue his studies at Macquarie he has worked at the National Centre of English Language Teaching and Research (NCELTR) on a wide range of courses.
