The Audiology Section within the Department of Linguistics has several products for sale to assist with the assessment and treatment of hearing disorders.
The Macquarie University Speech Test CD comprises four tests: the Macquarie Staggered Spondaic Word (MSSW) test, the Macquarie Synthetic Sentence Identification (MSSI) test, the Macquarie Dichotic Sentence Identification (MDSI) test and the Sentence Identification by Pictures (SIP) test and is available for distribution within Australia and New Zealand
The Macquarie Pediatric Speech Intelligibility Test (MPSI; Cameron, Barker & Newall, 2003) is an Australian recording of the Pediatric Speech Intelligibility Test (PSI; Jerger & Jerger, 1984) Format II sentences. The PSI was developed specifically for children and research has found it to be a sensitive tool for diagnosing auditory processing disorders.
Hearing aids are supplied at the clinic as required. Fees for hearing aid purchasing include hearing aid counselling and ongoing audiological support during the warranty period of the hearing aid (typically three years).
