Style Council 2007 - Conference Report


Style Council 2007 took the theme "Australian usage and style: language description and commentary", was held in Hobart on Saturday 12 May, dovetailing with the National Editors conference at Wrest Point Convention Centre.

Keynote speaker: Dr Bruce Moore (Australian National Dictionary Centre, ANU) discussed the Tasmanianisms in the first and forthcoming second editions of the Australian National Dictionary.

Other invited papers:

Other papers offered discussed the different approaches of language columnists in Australia's major newspapers; the norms of using commas with adjunct phrases, in Australian newspapers; and millennial changes in Australian style.
