About our service

This new centre – opened in 2006 – is a teaching and research clinic of the Macquarie University Master of Speech & Language Pathology program. Students see clients for assessment and intervention services, under the direct supervision of specialist clinicians, and academic staff who are engaged in internationally renowned clinical research.

All assessment and treatment procedures are based on the most recent evidence available from research, ensuring that clients have access to the best possible services.

At the Macquarie University Speech Clinic, we work with children and adults with communication difficulties and their families, carers, and teachers, to assist them to participate in their everyday home, school, work and social activities:

Treatments are tailored to individual needs, and treatment schedules vary according to disorders and goals. Students and clinicians work with clients and their families to design programs that will address their immediate and long-term concerns. We like to involve families and friends of clients in treatments as these significant communication partners can greatly assist the child or adult with the communication problem in making necessary changes, and improving speech skills.
