Dr Elizabeth Armstrong - Course Coordinator & Senior Lecturer
Dr Elizabeth Armstrong has worked in the field of speech pathology for more than twenty years, specialising in aphasia and is both nationally and internationally known for her research into the area of aphasic discourse analysis. She completed her MA (Hons) and PhD in Linguistics at Macquarie University and lectured at the University of Sydney prior to taking up the position as course coordinator for the Masters course at Macquarie. She has worked clinically in both community health and hospital settings for a number of years; her last clinical position was Area Director of Speech Pathology for the Central Sydney Area Health Service. Dr Armstrong was appointed a Fellow of the Speech Pathology Association of Australia in 1996 and was Founding Editor of the journal Advances in Speech Language Pathology, first published in 1999.
Dr Elisabeth Harrison - Lecturer
Dr Elisabeth Harrison completed her PhD at the University of Sydney in 2002 on the topic of stuttering treatment for preschool-age children. She took up the position of lecturer at Macquarie University in 2003, and lectures in developmental speech and language disorders, fluency disorders, research design skills and professional practice. Elisabeth worked for 16 years in paediatric and adult speech pathology clinical and management positions, in hospital and community health settings. Her most recent clinical position was Senior Speech Pathologist at the Stuttering Unit, Bankstown Community Health Centre. Her current research interest is treatment for young children with the Lidcombe Program of early stuttering intervention.
Dr Linda Cupples - Associate Professor
Dr Linda Cupples is an Associate Professor in the Department of Lingusitics. She obtained her PhD in Psychology from the University of Melbourne, and spent a year as a postdoctoral fellow with Professor Max Coltheart in the Psychology Department at Macquarie University, investigating sentence-comprehension difficulties in aphasia. Her current research interests are in the area of psycholinguistics, in particular, reading development and disorders, sentence comprehension in skilled adults, and disorders of sentence comprehension.
Dr Lynne Mortensen - Lecturer
Lynne Mortensen teaches on the Master of Speech and Language Pathology program and related courses within the Department of Linguistics. She lectures in the areas of professional practice in speech-language pathology, clinical linguistic analysis, and acquired neurogenic speech and language disorders. She also contributes to the Master of Audiology program and undergraduate linguistics in the areas of language of dementia and traumatic brain injury. Lynne established the clinical education programs for the Master of Speech and Language Pathology at Macquarie University and the Bachelor of Speech Pathology at The University of Newcastle.
