Linguistic Tools
One of the objectives of the Centre is the development and application of tools for linguistic analysis. Many of these tools have been developed within the department of Linguistics by centre members. We also link to other tools which may be useful in data collection, storage and analysis and to tools for coding that have been developed with a functional orientation.
Initiative for a repository of SFL resources
The Systemic Meaning Modelling Group (SMMG) was developed by Dr. Wu Canzhong to fascilitate systemic functional linguistic coding and analysis. Please contact Dr. Wu Canzhong to find out more about this set of tools.
Wagsoft Linguistic Software for SFL. Developed by Michael O'Donnell, the wagsoft tool set is designed for systemic functional linguistics analysis and also provides a tool for drawing system networks.
The Linguistic Annotation Wiki. The linguistic annotation wiki is a collection of annotation tools which provided links to the tool site and reviews of the different tools by users.
Speech analysis and transcription software. Speech analysis and transcription software is specifically oriented to phonetic and phonological analyses although many of the tools are also useful for other purposes.
DiRT - Digital Research Tools wiki. Taking a broader approach than the linguistic annotation wiki, the Digital research tools wiki also offers a survey of tools available.
Linguistic data services. A private transcription and data management service, linguistic data services also provides a list and review of tools that researchers may find useful.
Linguistic Archiving Technology LAT. Developed by the language analysis team at the Max Plankt research centre, the LAT tool set is designed for the complete management of data.
