Congratulations and welcome to new and continuing students within the Department of Linguistics.

Especially for new students commencing in 2008

Settling into university life quickly can be the difference between making or breaking an academic career. The following information may assist you tomake the most of one of the most challenging and exciting years of your life.

• Transition Program will assist your smooth move into the University and help you cope with the changes and challenges of a University learning environment.
• The Undergraduate section provides tips on transitioning more easily between school and University and answers to FAQs
• Undergraduate and Postgraduate Academic Orientation Week programs run in late February and early March providing skills training, library tours and a free lunch

All Students

• eStudent facility information.- enrol online (not for first years), change your study programs, view your academic record, receive announcements from the university, as well as change some personal information that may become out of date. Your end of semester results can also be found on the eStudent website.
• The MQnU - important news for students, key dates, Macquarie services, academic programs and study tools. It will also provide links to student activities and IT tools and information.
• Student Support section of the Linguistics website - available resources, key student policies, University and Departmental processes and finding key people and sources of advice.

Undergraduates

• The University HSC and Beyond website - general links to accommodation information, course information, clubs and societies pages, transport and parking advice and scholarship details.
• Linguistics Undergraduate section - information on all of the subject areas and degree courses on offer from the Department and how to apply

Postgraduate Coursework Students

• Postgraduate and Beyond Postgraduate Coursework section – general University information on courses, application details, dates, scholarships and fees are found.
• Linguistics Postgraduate Coursework –specific Linguistics information on the subject areas and courses on offer, prizes and scholarships, contacts for courses and how to apply.

Postgraduate Research Students

• Postgraduate and Beyond Research Degrees section - assistance with relevant general University information.
• Postgraduate Research Degrees - Linguistics - information on the subject areas and higher degrees on offer throughout Linguistics.
• Research within Linguistics - investigate the Staff Research Interests within the Departments and explore the Higher Degree Research Index of all current student research projects ongoing within the Department.
