DRC areas of consultancy
The Dictionary Research Centre provides a consultancy service for academic and professional organisations that has covered the following areas:
- legal linguistics, researching the status of trade marks, brand names
- legal linguistics, stylistic identification and analysis
- researching and writing style manuals
- Plain English documentation
- creation of brand names
- foreign pronunciations
Recent consultancies include:
- Conducting a workshop for Elsevier Publishing to train its editors in the principles of lexicography and address particular issues to do with creating an Australian version of Mosby’s Medical, Nursing, & Allied Health Dictionary (January 2004)
- Editing and providing Plain English revisions for the Hornsby Shire Council’s Annual Report (2004 and 2003)
- Writing and providing advice on online presentation for the 2 nd edition of the NCELTR Style Guide (2003)
- Writing and researching for the Style Manual for authors, editors and printers (6 th edition, 2002)
