A dictionary for Plutarch's "Life of Kimon": lexical and pedagogical issues in developing a dictionary for students of Ancient History.
July 4, 6-7.15 pm
Gregory Fox describes a novel project in pedagogical lexicography, designed to "propel Plutarch into the twenty-first century". His very recently compiled dictionary of the ancient Greek used in Plutarch's Life of Kimon is the first in a series designed to facilitate access to classical sources by students and scholars with no prior knowledge of the language.
In addition to his research and teaching on New Testament Greek, Gregory Fox was the first to document three Vanuatan languages (Lenakel, Fila, Big Nambas). He has also translated St. Mark's Gospel into Lithuanian.
