A new unit ofered in semester 2 2008 more...
Dear all,
Many of you will recall that during last year the Linguistics Department introduced some strategies for enhancing the research profiles of its staff, one of which was a "Linguistics New Researcher Grant" Scheme. Under this scheme, new researchers (PhD awarded in the last 10 years) can apply for up to $10,000 funding for a particular research project. Up to five projects will be funded in any one year. Since $10,000 is a useful sum of money to put towards your research, I encourage everyone who meets the eligibility criteria (described in the attached guidlines) to apply. To facilitate the process, the 2008 application form is also attached to this email.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE CLOSING DATE FOR THE SCHEME IN 2008 IS MONDAY 26TH MAY, 2008.
As you will see from the guidelines, applications to this scheme should be lodged electronically (rather than in hard copy) to Colm Halbert (chalbert@vc.mq.edu.au), our Divisional Research and HDR Manager. If you have any questions about the scheme or your eligibility to apply, please feel free to email me before preparing your application.
Last year we had two applications to this scheme and both were considered highly competitive and funded accordingly ... Let's see if we can increase that number this year!
With best wishes,
Linda
