We are pleased to announce the introduction in 2008 of a new structure for all strands of the Master of Applied Linguistics program, a new double degree and a new postgraduate certificate.
From Semester One 2008 students who commence these degree programs will be required to complete 32 credit points instead of the previous 40 credit points. The new structure will permit students to complete the degree in one year full-time or two years or more part-time. As before all Master of Applied Linguistics (all strands) can be completed externally and maintains an extensive range of optional units to meet the specific interests of students.
Also offered from Semester One 2008 will be a new double degree, the Master of Translating and Interpreting with Master of Applied Linguistics (TESOL)
Master of Translating and Interpreting with the degree of Master of Applied Linguistics (TESOL) is a 56 credit points course designed to meet the needs of those students who have good linguistic skills and are seeking to develop professionally as translators or interpreters as well as language professions working in the area of language teaching, curriculum development, education assessment and program evaluation, teacher training, policy development, management or community service where language and communication are critical issues.
The Postgraduate Certificate in Applied Linguistics (TESOL) has been designed to cater for experienced teachers wishing to extend their theoretical and practical knowledge of language and curriculum design and methodologies for language education.
