Domestic Postgraduate Coursework Applicants
If you are an Australian citizen or permanent resident or a New Zealand citizen:
Applications are via the Coursework Studies Section. Please download the direct application form at the following link: http://www.postgrad.mq.edu.au/pdfs/CWK_APPnSCHED.pdf
Your application will be assessed by Academic staff in the Department of Linguistics and you will be advised of the outcome of your application by Coursework Studies Section.
If you are an Australian citizen, you may be eligible for financial support through the federal government FEE-HELP scheme - see http://studyassist.gov.au/sites/StudyAssist/.
Applicants for the following programs are also required to submit additional information with their application.
Applied Linguistics (including TESOL, Literacy, Language Program Management and Teaching English for Specific Purposes)
Applied Linguistics applicants are also required to submit a supplementary form and proof of work experience in the form of a letter / reference, on their employer’s letterhead stating length of time employed, whether full or part time, and nature of duties.
Postgraduate Certificate in Linguistic Research
Linguistics Research Applicants are also required to submit a research proposal together with a supplementary form.
Clinical Audiology
Audiology applicants are also required to submit a personal statement (cover letter) which includes information about your background and reasons for wanting to become an Audiologist.
Speech & Language Pathology
Speech Pathology applicants are also required to submit a personal statement which should indicate:
- your understanding of Speech Pathology as practised in Australia
- relevant personal experience of speech pathology or related fields
- explanation of any factors that are relevant to the application
Graduate Diploma in Speech and Communication

Master of Translating & Interpreting with Applied Linguistics TESOL
For the Applied Linguistics part of the double degree applicants are also required to submit proof of work experience in the form of a letter / reference, on their employer’s letterhead stating length of time employed, whether full or part time, and nature of duties.
