Postgraduate Diploma of Applied Linguistics with a specialisation in General Applied Linguistics

The Postgraduate Diploma of Applied Linguistics with a specialisation in General Applied Linguistics has been designed to cover theoretical and methodological issues relevant to practitioners in a variety of professions whose work is concerned with applied language study. Subjects are internationally relevant and focus on the development of discourse analytic skills and understanding the complex relationship between language use and context.

Admission requirements

Admission requirements: A Bachelors degree or equivalent and one year of full-time (or equivalent) relevant professional experience.

Length of candidature: 1 year full-time or 2 years or more part-time

Attendance: On campus (evening), by distance, online

Commencement: February, July

Course requirements: 6 core units.

Full credit may be carried forward into the Master of Applied Linguistics with a specialisation in General Applied Linguistics provided a minimum GPA of 3.00 has been attained.

NOTE: Application forms for entry into any strands of the Master of Applied Linguistics programs must be submitted by the relevant application deadlines.

Minimum Progress

To maintain candidature in the program, students must show satisfactory progress by achieving a minimum GPA (Grade Point Average) of 1.5 in each year of enrolment.

Students should be aware that a Fail grade will impact the GPA and they may become at risk of not meeting the minimum requirements of the course.
