Postgraduate Diploma of Applied Linguistics with a specialisation in TESOL

The Postgraduate Diploma of Applied Linguistics with a specialisation in TESOL has been designed to provide a strong theoretical and practical foundation in the field of teaching English as a second or foreign language. Subjects are internationally relevant and focus on the development of skills in analysing learners' language and English as an international language; and theoretical and practical issues in curriculum, teaching, learning, and evaluation.

Admission Requirements

Admission Requirements: A Bachelors degree or equivalent and proof of at least one year full-time (or equivalent) professional language teaching experience in a recognised institution.

Length of candidature: 1 year full-time or 2 years or more part-time

Attendance: On campus (evening), by distance, online

Commencement: February, July

Course requirements: 6 core units

Full credit may be carried forward into the Master of Applied Linguistics with a specialisation in TESOL or towards other versions of the Master of Applied Linguistics provided a minimum GPA of 3.00 has been attained.

NOTE: Application forms for entry into any specialisation of the Master of Applied Linguistics programs must be submitted by the relevant application deadlines.

Minimum Progress

To maintain candidature in the program students must show satisfactory progress by achieving a minimum GPA (Grade Point Average) of 1.5 in each year of enrolment.

Students should be aware that a Fail grade will impact the GPA and they may become at risk of not meeting the minimum requirements of the course.
