Course Structure

Course Code: MSPCHPATH 94
Length of Candidature: 2 Years full-time
Attendance: Students will be required to attend day classes as well as clinical placements during semester and semester breaks
Commencement Date: February 2010
Availability: There will be a new intake every year

Admission Requirements:

  1. Direct entry: A Bachelor of Speech and Hearing Sciences from Macquarie University or an equivalent degree from an Australian or overseas tertiary institution.

  2. A credit average (65/100) is the minimum requirement from an undergraduate degree.

  3. Applicants with degrees in other areas will be considered on an individual basis; some qualifying coursework may be required:-
  • Understanding of Speech Pathology as practised in Australia
  • Relevant personal experience of Speech Pathology or related fields
  • Explanation of any factors that are relevant to the application

Due to the clinical nature of this program, spaces are limited, therefore, entry is competitive. Meeting eligibility criteria does not guarantee a place in the program.

Speech Pathology applicants are also required to submit a personal statement which should indicate:
  1. your understanding of Speech Pathology as practised in Australia
  2. relevant personal experience of speech pathology or related fields
  3. explanation of any factors that are relevant to the application

Your application will be assessed by Academic staff in the Department of Linguistics and you will be advised of the outcome of your application by UAC.
