Description

This unit provides comprehensive training in research methods, both qualitative and quantitative, directed at Professional Communication generally and in specific sites. It incorporates three methodologies: linguistic/discoursal analysis of spoken and written texts; ethnographic analysis of professional speech communities; and social psychological analysis of the conditions of production and reception of workplace texts in different modalities.

This unit contains the following three strands:

i. Scope of Professional Communication research (2 cr. points)
ii. Research design in professional communication (4 cr. points)
iii. Communication issues in Professional Communication (2 cr. points)
