Description

Prerequisite: LING900

The use of linguistics in the study of style; the meaning of literary texts and their value in particular communities; the status of texts as literary artefacts; stylistics and the teaching of first and second language literatures; language, literature and sociocultural background; genre and linguistic description; visual semiotics The course also draws in a range of non-literary registers, including media and political discourse, and the study of personality and psychotherapy.
