LING968 will introduce you to the application of computer-mediated communication (CMC) in second language acquisition. The unit will explore asynchronous communication by email, bulletin board and voice board as well as synchronous communication via chatlines within managed learning environments. Particular emphasis will be placed on the role of CMC in intercultural learning processes. You will find all key and ancillary readings for this unit online and all teaching, learning and discussion will take place electronically.
Assessment is ongoing and includes practical as well as more theoretical components. It is based on three written assignments with a participation mark given for contributions to the online discussions:
