Unit Description

In this unit you will undertake a major research project on a topic related to the course material. This project will result in a minor dissertation. Students will be encouraged to develop original ideas and implement working models where appropriate. Projects will most likely focus upon speech research, speech technology or natural language processing. Some projects will be experimentally based whilst some projects will involve the design and software implementation of some aspect of NLP or speech technology. Other types of project are also possible depending upon their relevance to the goals of this degree and the availability of supervisors. Students are encouraged to think creatively about possible projects and should discuss their project ideas with the unit covenor or with potential supervisors.
