This unit will be assessed by means of four mini-assignments (60%) and a final essay (40%).
Class attendance and participation: Punctuality and attendance at class meetings are expected. In case of illness, students should explain their absence directly to the lecturers, and marks will be deducted for those who fail to do so. Students who miss four or more classes without will automatically fail the course.
Assignment #1: Internet resources and translation (20%) due Friday 23 March (Week 4)
Assignment #2: Document processing (10%) due Friday 6 April (Week 6)
Assignment #3: Terminology base (15%) due Friday 4 May (Week 8)
Assignment #4: Translation memory and text alignment (15%) due Friday 25 May (Week 11)
Assignment #5: An essay of 2,500 words (40%) due Friday 15 June (Week 14)
All assignments will be marked according to the following standard grading system:
High Distinction (HD) 85-100; Distinction (D) 75-84; Credit (C) 65-74; Pass (P) 50-64; Pass Conceded (PC) 45-49; Fail (F) 0-44.
Make sure you have read the policy on plagiarism, and include the cover sheet where you certify that the assignment is your own work. You may form study groups and consult one another when you do assignments, but each assignment you submit must represent your own work.
