Students will explore the theoretical foundations of the role of the interpreter, duty of care, preparation techniques, medical terminology and interpreting strategies.

Sessions will be devoted to theoretical and practical exploration of medical interpreting issues, analysis and discussion of literature in relation to medical interpreting, and practical interpreting exercises involving mock role-plays of medical and mental health scenarios and working from video materials.
