Role

The role of the Linguistics Research Committee is to develop and implement strategies for enhancing research quality and output in the Department of Linguistics in line with the strategic plans of the Faculty of Human Sciences and of Macquarie University. 

The Committee advises the Head of Department on research issues and monitors, oversees, and promotes research activity within the Department in relation to the following tasks:

Research and Research Training Enhancement plan

Goal

Monitor, evaluate and enhance the research performance of the Department of Linguistics by:

Objectives

  1. Increasing the proportion of research active staff
  2. Increasing the proportion of externally funded research grants
  3. Increasing the number of A1, B1 or C1 DEST publications
  4. Increasing the proportion of publications in top tier, high impact journals
  5. Increasing research grant income from a range of sources public and private
  6. Increasing collaborative research projects with industry, government, commerce and linkage partners
  7. Maintaining HDR enrolments in line with supervisory capacity
  8. Maintaining HDR completions in line with supervisory capacity
  9. Increasing HDR within time completions
  10. Increasing number of externally funded HDR scholarships
  11. Monitoring, evaluating, enhancing, and promoting excellence in HDR Supervision
