Core Academic Literacy Workshops

The Core Academic Literacy Workshops aim to help postgraduate students become successful communicators in academic settings.

The Postgraduate Coursework Academic Literacy program is funded by the DVC (Provost) and managed by the Linguistics Department. Initially, the program offers core academic literacy workshops.  While some disciplines already provide academic literacy support for their postgraduate students, the ultimate aim of this program is to provide discipline-specific academic literacy support for all postgraduate coursework students at Macquarie University.

The curriculum for these workshops is based on extensive research in the area of academic literacies as well as on the experience of the linguists involved in its development.

Timetable

These workshops are offered as two hour sessions several times a week throughout the semester.  This flexible timetable gives students the opportunity to choose a session that fits in with their other commitments.

To Register

To enrol in any of the Core Academic Literacy Workshops, students should simply go to the Linguistics Office on level 5 of Building C5A and register their details for the sessions they wish to attend.  Each workshop will deal with certain specific areas of communication in academic settings.

An information leaflet is also available for distribution to interested students.
