Academic Literacy Workshops
The Academic Literacy Workshops aim to help postgraduate students become successful communicators in academic settings.
The Postgraduate Coursework Academic Literacy program is funded by the DVC (Provost) and provided by the Linguistics Department. These workshops provide generic and discipline-specific academic literacy support to postgraduate coursework students at Macquarie University.
The curriculum for these workshops is based on extensive research in the area of academic literacies as well as on the expertise of staff from within the Linguistics Department.
Timetable
These workshops are offered as two hour sessions several times a week throughout the semester. The workshop outline explains the content of the workshops. This flexible timetable gives students the opportunity to choose a session that fits in with their other commitments.
To Register
- These workshops are recommended for Macquarie University postgraduate coursework students.
- There are six different workshops in total. These workshops are repeated at various times to allow for flexibility in students' timetables.
- Some academic literacy workshops are held on weekends. These sessions will address a combination of topics that are discussed in the weekday workshops. These focused full day sessions require your commitment to attend the whole day program.
- You can attend as many workshops as you want, however, due to restricted places available, students will only be able to attend ONE of the two weekend sessions, which will be identical in content.
- Postgraduate academic literacy workshops for semester 2, 2011 have now finished. If you require further assistance, please email pgacademicliteracy@mq.edu.au
An information leaflet is also available for distribution to interested students.
